Fashion means glamour and luxury and dressing up. For those who work in the industry though, it’s just another day at the office. Many times we forget just how much fashion can empower people and make a social impact. Mary Alice Stephenson started Glam4Good for this very reason.
Glam4Good partnered with the Bob Woodruff Foundation on Stand Up for Heroes, a yearly gala that celebrates Wounded Warriors, and to bestow some glamour to 50 of their caregivers. Mary Alice noticed caregivers shying away from the red carpet and wanted to use her influence in the fashion community as a way to pamper them. So many glamorous brands donated dresses, shoes and jewelry to complete looks for these women. Zac Posen, Calvin Klein, Via Spiga Miriam Haskell, ShoeDazzle, Rent The Runway, Fenton Fallon, Kara Ross, BCBG and Maidenform all generously donated. Many, asking throughout the day if they needed to bring in more product. Kerastase and Dior beauty handled hair and makeup.
The generosity makes an impact. “We are so grateful to Mary Alice and the brands that donated to GLAM4GOOD for providing a day of pampering and glamour for these family members that are so often forgotten in the equation,” said Lee Woodruff. “This isn’t a full-time job. This is our heart. This is what we want to make it feel like there’s a reason we’re in fashion, if we can use it to make people feel good,” said Mary Alice.
